I've found it!
I'm still working on getting it down, but this is definitely the paintscheme that I'll be using for my Deathwing army.

I've been experimenting with Non Metal Metallic paintschemes, and I've finally found one I like.

To be more precise, it's an example of Sky-Earth NMM, an attempt to paint on reflections of the sky and earth surrounding the model to mimic the reflectivity of a polished metal surface.

For the sky, I use Hawk Turquoise and for the earth I use Adeptus Battlegrey, and I put a Skull White horizon line between them. While this looks fairly cool by itself, it doesn't really show the reflectivity.

The next step is to blend in a bit of Skull White to both the sky and the earth portions. The lowest part of each (the area nearest the horizon for the sky and the area nearest the actual ground for the earth) is slightly tinted by dry-blending Skull White onto it. For the blending, I let the main color dry, then I water down a bit of Skull White paint and put just enough on to slightly tint the color. On larger areas, I have to use more of a gradation, so I'll tint a large portion with one layer and let it dry. Then I'll go over half the area with another layer, etc.

After that, it's time for the extreme highlights. This is what really makes it look more shiny and reflective. Large surfaces directly in the light get a splotch (technical term, you understand) of Skull White at their highest, most reflective point. Edges in the light also get Skull White along the edge, to represent light glinting off the edges of the metal.

The main colors go on very quickly, though it can be a little finicky getting each of the reflective surfaces to have their own sky-earth reflection. Once I got started on it, it became much easier to figure out about where I wanted each of the horizon lines. The blending doesn't take terribly long either, which means I can spend more time on the extreme highlights. These take longer, but it's worth the effort, and it doesn't really take that long.

Now that I've got the scheme hammered out, I need to paint a few more Terminators and start assembling (or repainting) some vehicles. Time to get this thing in gear!
