Gallery Okay, you asked for it, and you got it! This is my Gallery page, where you can see how poorly I used to paint, and how much better I am now. Note: Still plenty of room for improvement, but they look a lot better, don't they? Click on the thumbnails to see larger images. Wow! Although this is an impressive figure, I hadn't realized how badly painted my old Tyranids were. (I've put them aside in favor of other armies recently, and I haven't revisited them since before the Battle in Seattle last year. My painting has made huge leaps since then, and this model really shows where I started. More of the old tyranids. The paintjob does look a bit better without the closeup and with the whole army together, but not that much! I know there are lots of people that repaint all their old models as they get better, but I've got another idea. A friend of mine who is an excellent painter keeps his old ones to show to people when they look at his and despair of ever becoming a good painter. Although I don't expect to ever paint so well that I will have that effect, I'd like to think people will eventually look at my models and be impressed, then I'll show them a few old ones to give them hope. This is one of my original "spidery" gaunts. While I love the conversion, making 5 scything talons for every one of these 32 guys was too much work. I'm currently debating what to do with them. I'd like to include them in my reworked Tyranid army, but they look so different from anything else, that they might not fit in. We'll see. Ah, my reworked Hive Tyrant. This model got a lot of compliments at the Seattle GT, and at least one opponent said he'd have nightmares about it. :) The straight wings were a last minute add-on, when the second set of fly wings went missing. On the other hand, I do kind of like the look, it's very reminiscent of certain flying beetles. This model, like my Hive Tyrant and Spitters, got a lot of compliments at the GT. I like the conversion, and it ties in with my old spidery gaunts and the Hive Tyrant. My Dark Eldar were my first army, but I've touched them up more recently than my old Tyranids. I chose this Raider to show one of my conversions. I really like the look of the simple Raider with no running boards, it makes it look more sleek. Once I did the math and figured out that (if they could sit down) you could fit at least 8 Warriors in a Raider without using running boards. I also like the banking effect I got with this one, though I don't like that the pilot seems to have lost his head! Ah, battle damage, you've gotta love it! Another Raider conversion, alongside Dracon El T'taes (mini-me!) and a Reaver with Blaster. Note the Agonizer conversion. I felt that the PowerClaw arm just wasn't Dark Eldary enough, so I redid it. I took some bayonets and knives from the DE sprues and glued them along a Warrior arm, then put it on mini-me in place of the old, clunky powerclaw. Some of my Sybarites here. I've used a wide variety of conversions for Agonizers, including razorwire whips and Forearm Blades. Here is an assortment of my Warriors, plus a Ravager gunner. I particularly like the one holding the spiked club (made from a bit of sprue and some DE spikes,) I like to imagine that he tore it off an Ork and decided he liked it. I also have a couple of variations on Two-Gun Pete, here, as I like the look it gives. On the left you have my first Talos, on the right, my second. The second is created from a Wraithlord and has a bit of interesting fluff behind it that goes back to the creation of Kabal Rillishelwe Mor and the Fall of the Eldar. Well, these are the ones that were originally destined to become Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Warband. Although I have relegated that to the far distant future, if not another army entirely, I do like the Doom Eagles paint scheme I chose for them, as it is fairly different from most Marines. Hmm, I managed to somehow get it's most silver side, instead of all the Red or Green trim. They are really a bit less shiny in person. I really like my LandRaiders, even if they can be a huge point sink. Hey, it means that my poor Strike force doesn't always have to walk. Alright, to round it out, I present some Orcs and a Goblin Wolfrider from Warhammer Fantasy. If you enjoyed this, email me and let me know |
