Are we there yet?
Okay, I got a bit more done this week. The
Screamers are complete. The Furies have some battle damage to repair,
but it’s just a bit of gluing. I picked up another couple of Dragon
Ogres to paint as well, and I still need to do the Horrors and the
Marauder Horsemen, plus my characters.
I wanted to be able to do more
customization on my Marauder Horsemen, so I picked up the Marauder
regiment box and I’ll be fitting them to some Horses from my Knights.
Being plastic models, they are easy to repose with the aid of a
hairdryer/blowdryer or a heat gun, just aim the heat at the appropriate
limb and wait 10-15 seconds. Slowly repose, then dunk in water to set
it.
I think I’ll probably be using some combination of Knights and
Marauders for my Champions as well. If I have the time, I’d like to use
Daemonette heads for at least two of the three champions. I’ll give one
longer hair and cut off the weird spike/tendril things, while the other
will get a little bit of facial hair. I want to make them look eerily
alike, sort of a brother/sister team gone wrong.

This week we covered basing, which is pretty easy.
(Some watered-down white glue smoothed around on the base, slide it
through flock and shake it off. Bam! Basing!) After that we set up our
tournament game. We played Carpe Ranam again, this time using an 8x4
table. The Tau player had gotten his full 750pts done and so had the
Guard player. I had 530pts and the Space Wolf player who didn’t get to
join us last week had, uh, 150? We let him deepstrike in, since he had
a character in Terminator Armor.
The Tau and Guard players set up
relatively near each other and immediately started gunning for each
other. My Daemon Prince had a nice long walk in the park by his
lonesome self, since my Daemons didn’t summon until round 3. He did get
tagged by a Guard Lascannon at long range, but then the Space Wolf
player deepstruck in on top of their position and kept them busy. In
the last turn of the game, the Space Wolf player had only his
Terminator character left, and I think it was wounded. The Guard player
had just lost his last two Guardsmen and his tank. I had a wound or two
left on my Daemon Prince and about half of my Daemonettes, and the Tau
player had a Firewarrior, three Pathfinders and a wounded Crisis Suit.
The Firewarrior was a little closer to the objective than my
Daemonettes, so he won the whole game.
He won the prize for overall and
the Guard player got the award for the most accomplished. He joined us
a week late and still managed to paint up a Leman Russ and a Basilisk,
plus a couple of command squads and several troop squads and a Heavy
Weapons squad!
