Shiny, Angry People!
Warpstorm reader Max sent me another painting tutorial, this time on SENMM Gold! For those of you that haven't been following along at home, NMM is a technique where you reproduce the reflections of metallic objects, without actually using a metallic paint. This means you paint on a lot of shading and extreme highlighting to make it look like it is shining. SEnmm refers to very reflective surfaces, such as chrome or polished gold, that actually reflect the Sky and Earth. I've been fascinated by the techniques for a while, but I haven't actually completely succeeded at them. Max's tutorial got me a lot closer. I think it might eventually get me all the way there, but it'll take a little more fiddling with blending than I'm ready to do right at this moment. If you are interested in the technique, check out one of Max's figures below, then give his tutorial a try!

Lars here is a fantastic model Max painted using both SENMM chrome and SENMM Gold techniques. Yes, folks, there is no metallic paint on the model. After the tutorial, below, are another couple of views of Lars here.
